Job Overview
Mercor is seeking an experienced Finance Specialist to join a leading AI lab’s GenAI team and help improve advanced Large Language Models.
The role is focused on bringing real-world finance expertise into AI development. You will create challenging finance tasks, evaluate AI-generated answers against structured criteria, identify weaknesses in financial reasoning, and provide clear feedback to help improve model accuracy and judgment.

Key Responsibilities
- Guide research and engineering teams on complex financial reasoning and decision-making.
- Identify knowledge gaps in finance-related AI outputs.
- Design challenging, domain-relevant finance tasks based on real-world financial practice.
- Prepare accurate and well-reasoned solutions to finance problems.
- Evaluate AI model responses against structured rubrics.
- Assess AI outputs for correctness, financial judgment and quality of reasoning.
- Provide clear and detailed written feedback on model performance.
- Develop and refine finance-specific evaluation guidelines and scoring rubrics.
- Collaborate with other finance subject-matter experts to maintain consistency and accuracy in training data.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of dedicated professional experience in finance, such as investment banking, asset management, corporate finance or financial advisory.
- Experience at a recognised top-tier organisation such as Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Morgan Stanley, BlackRock, Fidelity, Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG or an equivalent organisation.
- Mandatory hands-on experience evaluating LLM/AI model outputs against rubrics or structured scoring criteria.
- Demonstrated career progression, such as Analyst → Associate → VP/Director or an equivalent progression.
- Availability to work reliably for at least 35 hours per week during weekdays.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
