About Revolut
Revolut is a global financial technology company founded in 2015 with a mission to provide people with greater visibility, control and flexibility over their money. Its digital financial services include spending, saving, investing, currency exchange, travel-related services and other financial products.
With a global customer base and an international workforce, Revolut focuses on delivering technology-driven financial services while maintaining security, trust and a strong customer experience. Fraud prevention and financial crime risk management are important to protecting customers, supporting reliable transactions and enabling responsible product growth.
Revolut’s financial crime teams combine risk expertise, operational knowledge and technology to identify emerging threats, strengthen controls and reduce exposure to financial crime. The organisation places emphasis on scalable processes, data-driven decisions and collaboration between Product, Operations, Compliance and other business functions.
About the Role
Revolut is seeking a FinCrime Risk Manager (Fraud) to strengthen fraud risk management across its financial services operations. This position is suited to an experienced fraud risk professional who can assess emerging threats, advise on product and operational decisions, test controls and lead initiatives designed to reduce fraud losses while protecting legitimate customers.
The successful candidate will bring experience in the First Line of Defence (1LoD), supporting practical risk management within business and operational teams. Rather than focusing only on identifying fraud after it occurs, the role involves proactively assessing risks, identifying weaknesses in existing controls and developing scalable prevention strategies.
The position requires close collaboration with Product, Operations and Compliance teams. The Fraud Risk Manager will help assess new product features and business expansions, evaluate control effectiveness, drive remediation plans and translate complex fraud scenarios into technology-enabled solutions.
An important part of the role is balancing fraud prevention with customer experience. Fraud controls must reduce financial losses and protect customers without creating unnecessary friction, unfair outcomes or avoidable complaints for legitimate users.
Key Responsibilities
1. Fraud Risk Assessment and Advisory
- Support fraud risk assessments for new products, features, operational processes and business launches.
- Provide first-line fraud risk expertise and practical guidance to Product, Operations and Compliance teams.
- Identify potential fraud exposure associated with new customer journeys, payment flows, product changes and business expansion.
- Assess the likelihood and potential impact of different fraud scenarios.
- Recommend proportionate controls based on the nature of the risk, available evidence and business requirements.
- Ensure fraud risks are considered early in product development and operational decision-making.
- Help business teams understand their fraud risk responsibilities and implement appropriate preventive measures.
2. Fraud Control Design and Testing
- Evaluate existing fraud prevention controls and assess whether they are operating effectively.
- Support the design and implementation of controls that address identified fraud risks.
- Conduct targeted control testing to identify weaknesses, operational gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Review both outsourced and internally managed fraud controls to assess performance and reliability.
- Monitor relevant service-level agreements (SLAs) and evaluate whether control activities meet agreed expectations.
- Document testing outcomes, control deficiencies, risk exposures and recommended corrective actions.
- Work with relevant teams to ensure control improvements are implemented and remain effective over time.
3. Fraud Risk Reviews and Remediation
- Lead fraud risk reviews to identify vulnerabilities across products, customer journeys and operational processes.
- Conduct control gap analyses and establish clear remediation plans.
- Prioritise weaknesses according to potential customer impact, financial exposure and overall risk severity.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to resolve control deficiencies within appropriate timelines.
- Track remediation progress and evaluate whether corrective actions adequately address the original risk.
- Identify recurring issues and underlying causes that may require broader changes to policies, processes or technology.
- Strengthen fraud governance by maintaining clear documentation of identified risks, control ownership and residual exposure.
4. Fraud Prevention Strategy and Loss Reduction
- Develop and improve fraud prevention strategies that reduce financial losses while maintaining a positive customer experience.
- Analyse fraud trends and emerging criminal methods to identify opportunities for proactive intervention.
- Work with relevant teams to convert complex fraud scenarios into practical, scalable controls.
- Support initiatives designed to reduce fraud exposure across retail and business financial services.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of fraud prevention measures and recommend adjustments where controls are not delivering the expected results.
- Contribute to high-impact projects that improve fraud detection, risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
- Encourage a proactive approach to fraud prevention rather than relying solely on reactive investigation and loss recovery.
5. Fraud Detection Technology and Analytics
- Apply knowledge of fraud detection technologies and control logic to assess how fraud risks can be identified and prevented.
- Collaborate with technical and analytical teams to improve fraud detection and prevention capabilities.
- Support the development, assessment or refinement of fraud detection rules and analytical approaches where required.
- Use relevant fraud indicators and available data to understand emerging patterns and evaluate control effectiveness.
- Translate business risks into clear requirements for technology-enabled fraud prevention solutions.
- Improve detection strategies through evidence-based analysis and continuous monitoring.
6. Customer Protection and Fair Treatment
- Review the customer impact of fraud controls and identify instances where legitimate customers experience unnecessary restrictions or disruption.
- Recommend improvements that balance fraud loss prevention with fairness, transparency and usability.
- Help identify and remediate customer detriment arising from inappropriate or ineffective fraud controls.
- Support improvements to complaint handling related to fraud-prevention decisions and customer restrictions.
- Evaluate whether controls are proportionate to the risks they are intended to address.
- Work with operational teams to improve the consistency and quality of fraud-related customer outcomes.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product teams to assess fraud risks associated with product development, launches and expansion into new markets.
- Partner with Operations teams to strengthen day-to-day fraud controls and improve operational effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Compliance and other relevant stakeholders to align fraud risk management with applicable requirements and internal standards.
- Communicate complex risk scenarios in a clear, practical and actionable manner.
- Support the delivery of fraud initiatives involving multiple teams and business functions.
- Help embed a strong risk management culture across operational and product teams.
