About Revolut
Revolut is a global financial technology company founded in 2015 with a mission to give people greater visibility, control and flexibility over their money. Its digital financial services cover spending, saving, investing, currency exchange, travel-related services and other financial products.
With a global workforce and a large international customer base, Revolut focuses on building accessible, technology-driven financial services. Its operations require strong financial crime controls, regulatory compliance and risk management practices to protect customers and support secure financial transactions across markets.
About the Role
Revolut is looking for a FinCrime Risk Manager (Correspondent Banking) to oversee financial crime risks associated with correspondent banking relationships and respondent banks. The role involves evaluating prospective banking partners, assessing their Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (AML/CTF) frameworks, conducting enhanced due diligence, and monitoring ongoing relationships.
The selected professional will work with internal teams and banking partners to ensure that financial crime risks are assessed against established standards and risk appetite. The position also involves preparing formal risk assessments, maintaining audit-ready documentation, monitoring regulatory developments and supporting informed decisions about onboarding and continued banking relationships.
This opportunity is particularly relevant for professionals with specialist experience in correspondent banking, financial institution due diligence, international AML/CTF standards and sanctions risk management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Correspondent Banking Risk Assessment
- Support financial crime risk assessments and advisory activities for the onboarding of new correspondent banking partners.
- Assess the financial crime risks associated with prospective and existing respondent banks.
- Maintain working relationships with banking partners and establish financial crime control requirements.
- Evaluate banking relationships against internal risk appetite, compliance standards and applicable regulatory expectations.
2. Enhanced Due Diligence and AML/CTF Reviews
- Conduct detailed reviews of AML/CTF policies, procedures and control frameworks maintained by prospective and existing banking partners.
- Perform enhanced due diligence on financial institutions, including reviews of ownership structures, governance arrangements and control environments.
- Assess expected fund flows and relevant transaction patterns to identify potential exposure to financial crime.
- Review the effectiveness of customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and fraud prevention controls.
- Document findings, identify material weaknesses and provide risk-based recommendations.
3. Ongoing Monitoring and Risk Management
- Conduct periodic reviews of respondent bank relationships and assess changes in their risk profiles.
- Evaluate trigger events, emerging risk indicators and changes in the business or ownership structures of banking partners.
- Perform transactional risk profiling and identify unusual or potentially high-risk fund flows.
- Recommend appropriate mitigation measures where financial crime risks exceed acceptable thresholds.
- Support decisions concerning the onboarding, continuation or reassessment of correspondent banking relationships.
4. Regulatory Compliance and Sanctions Risk
- Monitor developments in international AML/CTF regulations, sanctions requirements and financial crime typologies.
- Apply relevant standards and guidance, including FATF recommendations, EU Anti-Money Laundering Directives, OFAC sanctions requirements and the Wolfsberg Principles.
- Track developments relating to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), correspondent banking risk and the Travel Rule where relevant.
- Evaluate the impact of regulatory changes on existing controls, due diligence procedures and banking relationships.
- Contribute to improvements in financial crime risk policies and operational processes.
5. Risk Reporting and Governance
- Prepare detailed risk assessments, written recommendations and supporting documentation for internal governance committees.
- Present findings on financial crime risks, control deficiencies and proposed mitigation measures.
- Maintain complete, accurate and audit-ready records in internal systems.
- Support internal audits, regulatory inquiries and reviews relating to correspondent banking relationships.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to ensure that risk decisions are clearly documented and supported by appropriate evidence.
Qualifications and Eligibility
Candidates should meet the following experience and competency requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in financial crime compliance or risk management within a financial institution, consultancy or regulatory organisation.
- At least 3 years of experience in correspondent banking, including enhanced due diligence reviews of financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of global AML/CTF frameworks, sanctions standards and risk-based compliance practices.
- Experience assessing financial crime policies, procedures and controls related to transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud prevention and customer onboarding.
- Ability to analyse ownership structures, governance arrangements, control frameworks and expected fund flows.
- Experience preparing formal risk assessments, governance reports and recommendations.
- Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement in risk-based decision-making.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial crime risks to senior stakeholders.
