About Revolut
Revolut is a global financial technology company founded in 2015 with a mission to provide people with greater visibility, control and flexibility over their money. Its digital financial services include spending, saving, investing, currency exchange, travel-related services and other financial products.
With a large international customer base and a global workforce, Revolut focuses on building technology-driven financial services supported by secure operations, effective controls and a strong customer experience. Financial crime prevention is an important part of protecting customers, maintaining trust and supporting responsible growth.
Revolut’s Financial Crime team combines regulatory expertise, investigative methods and data-driven analysis to identify suspicious activity, assess customer and transaction risks, and help prevent financial crime. Its work supports compliance with internal policies and applicable regulatory requirements while helping customers resolve issues efficiently.
About the Role
Revolut is looking for a FinCrime Analyst to investigate customer, business and transaction-related concerns, assess financial crime risks and help protect the organisation from potential misuse of its financial services.
The role involves conducting customer due diligence, reviewing alerts generated by screening and transaction monitoring systems, analysing customer profiles and transaction activity, and identifying potential indicators of money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion and other predicate offences.
The selected candidate will use internal systems, screening tools, analytical methods and external information sources to assess risk and reach well-supported conclusions. Where a potential compliance breach or serious financial crime concern is identified, the analyst will escalate the matter to the appropriate compliance team, escalation function or Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO).
This position also requires close collaboration with Support, Compliance and Product teams to resolve complex cases, improve investigative procedures and provide an effective customer experience.
The role is suited to professionals with prior financial crime experience who can combine investigative judgement, analytical thinking, attention to detail and sound documentation practices in a fast-paced financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Customer Due Diligence and Risk Assessment
- Conduct due diligence reviews of individual customers, businesses and transactions using internal systems, screening tools and reliable external sources.
- Assess customer information to understand identity, business activity, ownership structures and potential financial crime exposure.
- Review customer profiles and available documentation to determine whether the information provided is consistent and credible.
- Perform risk-based assessments in line with internal policies and applicable regulatory standards.
- Identify inconsistencies, unusual activity and risk indicators that may require further investigation.
- Evaluate the nature of a customer’s business, expected transaction behaviour and relevant financial activity.
- Document findings clearly and maintain accurate records of the due diligence process.
- Recommend further checks or escalation when the available information is insufficient to resolve a risk concern.
2. AML and Financial Crime Investigations
- Review and investigate alerts related to potential money laundering, fraud, terrorist financing, sanctions evasion and other financial crime risks.
- Analyse customer information, transaction records and available supporting evidence to establish the context of suspicious activity.
- Identify red flags, unexplained transaction patterns, unusual account activity and potential deviations from expected behaviour.
- Assess whether the available evidence supports a reasonable conclusion or whether further investigation is required.
- Gather relevant information from internal systems and external sources to develop a complete understanding of a case.
- Maintain a structured and evidence-based approach when assessing financial crime concerns.
- Prepare clear case notes and document the rationale behind investigative decisions.
- Escalate cases where the identified risks require specialist review or further compliance action.
3. Sanctions, PEP and Screening Alert Reviews
- Review alerts generated by sanctions screening, Politically Exposed Person (PEP) screening, KYC/KYB processes and transaction monitoring systems.
- Assess screening results to identify potential matches, regulatory concerns or other financial crime risks.
- Review relevant information to distinguish genuine risk indicators from potential false positives, in accordance with internal procedures.
- Consider available customer information, ownership details and other relevant evidence when reviewing alerts.
- Identify potential sanctions exposure and escalate concerns through the appropriate channels.
- Review customer and business relationships for relevant regulatory, fraud and compliance risks.
- Maintain accurate records of alert assessments, supporting evidence and case outcomes.
4. KYC, KYB and Documentation Verification
- Validate customer identification documents and corporate records to support Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and onboarding requirements.
- Review Know Your Customer (KYC) information for individuals and Know Your Business (KYB) information for business customers.
- Assess documentation relating to directors, shareholders and Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs).
- Identify inconsistencies between customer declarations, corporate documentation, ownership information and other available records.
- Review relevant information to assess the legitimacy and risk profile of individuals and business entities.
- Ensure that due diligence records meet internal documentation standards and applicable requirements.
- Request or recommend additional information through established procedures where verification remains incomplete.
- Escalate unresolved documentation concerns or suspicious ownership arrangements where appropriate.
5. Transaction Monitoring and Suspicious Activity Analysis
- Review transaction monitoring alerts and investigate activity that may indicate potential financial crime.
- Analyse transaction patterns, customer behaviour, counterparties and other available indicators.
- Compare observed activity with the customer’s profile, stated business purpose and expected transaction behaviour.
- Identify unusual flows, inconsistencies or patterns that may require further investigation.
- Use spreadsheets, filters, pivot tables and other analytical tools to organise and interpret relevant information.
- Assess connections between transactions, customer profiles and associated entities where the available data supports such analysis.
- Document the reasoning behind decisions to close, continue or escalate cases.
- Support consistent and risk-based handling of transaction monitoring alerts.
6. Escalation and Compliance Reporting
- Escalate potential financial crime, sanctions or compliance issues to relevant escalation teams, MLROs or Compliance leadership.
- Identify cases that require specialist review because of their complexity, risk level or potential regulatory implications.
- Prepare clear and accurate case summaries that explain the issue, supporting evidence and rationale for escalation.
- Maintain detailed records of decisions, findings and relevant communications.
- Follow established escalation procedures and internal timelines.
- Support appropriate handling of cases with potential financial crime reporting implications.
- Ensure that investigative conclusions are supported by available evidence and documented in accordance with internal standards.
7. Customer Issue Resolution and Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Gather relevant context from other teams to support informed investigative decisions.
- Help resolve customer issues while maintaining appropriate financial crime controls.
- Communicate findings and information requests clearly to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify recurring case-handling challenges and contribute suggestions for improving procedures.
- Balance effective risk management with the need for a clear, fair and efficient customer experience.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure cases are handled consistently and in line with internal requirements.
8. Compliance Procedures and Continuous Improvement
- Learn and apply internal financial crime policies, procedures and investigative standards.
- Maintain accurate, complete and well-organised case documentation.
- Identify procedural gaps, recurring issues and opportunities to improve investigative efficiency.
- Follow established quality standards when conducting due diligence and reviewing alerts.
- Keep up to date with relevant internal guidance and financial crime risk indicators.
- Contribute to improvements in case handling, evidence gathering and risk assessment practices.
- Support a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous learning within financial crime operations.
